NGPDT Treatment Program
Next Generation PDT treatment courses typically take eight days. See chart below for a day-by-day schedule. A stage 1, 2 or 3 cancer patient typically requires one to two courses of treatment, whereas a stage four cancer patient requires typically two to four courses. If you wish to enrol in the NGPDT treatment program, you will need to provide accurate and up-to-date medical, laboratory and imaging scans so a realistic assessment of your medical condition and suitability for treatment can be determined. We may ask for additional tests to be completed at the hospital before a final assessment is made for a patients suitability for treatment.
If you are found suitable for a NGPDT treatment you are then scheduled to come to one of our Treatment Centres at your convenience. If you have to travel to our Treatment Centre our staff will help you with planning and booking your stay and also meet you at the airport or train station upon your arrival.
Treatment Program Details
Typical Treatment Program
Our Patient is given the NGPDT photosynthesizing agent by mouth. The agent is a Chlorophyll based formula, which is sensitive to light. The agent selectively accumulates and concentrates in malignant cancer tissue; the patient is then exposed to specific light wave-lengths in the specialized whole body light delivery system.
The specific light activates the NGPDT agent on the cancer cells, causing singlet oxygen to be created, which damage and destroy malignant cancer tissue while leaving normal tissue unharmed. Soon after light treatment, the immune system recognizes the fragments of the cancer cells and produces antibodies which help to control and destroy cancer cells throughout the body.
Treatment Protocol
Patient is reviewed as to suitability and informed of any contra indications prior to any therapy application. On acceptance the patient will pursue the following…
- Day 1 : Patient Interview and treatment protocol customization.
- Day 2 : Blood test and CT Scan examination * Costs will apply if patient does not have recent reports.
- Day 3 : Patient is administered photosensitive agent.
- Day 4 : The patient is administered light via our approved light delivery devices.
- Day 5 : Following review, patient is administered a re-supply of the photosensitive agent.
- Day 6 : The patient is administered light via our approved light delivery devices.
- Day 7 : Following review, patient is administered a re-supply of the photosensitive agent.
- Day 8 : The patient is administered light via our approved light delivery devices.
Note: As every patient is different the protocol is duly mediated to suit individual requirements.
Common Side Effects
Following the treatment and with the disintegration of tumour cells, the following side effects may appear during and/or post treatment:
- Feeling of tiredness
- Appearance of cold or flu like symptoms
- Inflammation
- Slight aches
- Malaise in the area of disintegration of the tumours.
- Slightly high Temperature and night sweat may occur for individual patients.
